……..was a little treat we found on the map after leaving Santiago de Compostella.   The Pinta, from the fleet of Christopher Columbus, arrived on March 1, 1493 bringing the news of the discovery of the new world.  Today Baiona is a popular summer resort and we were glad we were able to enjoy it in March as the weather was warm and the sunny skies allowed for some great walking.   We started our day walking along the fortress overlooking the bay and then along the boardwalk and before you knew it we had been walking for two hours.  Jim then discovered that not far from here you could pick up the Portuguese route of the camino which meant we had to walk and  explore  a little further.  We did this for just over an hour and then Marilyn and I headed off to do a little shopping but Jim continued on his own for a couple of more hours.  By the end of it all we were a little tired, meaning nap time,  and this was followed by a great meal and an early bedtime as the clocks change  ahead tonight and we have an early train to catch…….and catch you later!
