Our house in Starigrad, Paklencia National Park….dining room

Left Dubrovnik early this morning and the plan was to spend most of the day in the car, which we did, about five hours!  The goal was to reach Paklencia National Park so we would have the whole day to hike there tomorrow and fortunately found a wonderful place on Air b n b for the next two nights.   As mentioned earlier in the blog it’s been a great resource for wonderful and inexpensive accommodation.   Tonight, and tomorrow night, we have a whole house 100m from the beach with a deck off our room which has a king size bed in it and a slight view of the water.   There are three other bedrooms so Marilyn has her own room and there are two bathrooms.  Flowers are still blooming in the garden and there’s a pomegranate tree with ones just ripe for the picking…..and so we will!   There’s an indoor and outdoor fireplace with loads of wood which the host thought we might use as it’s only 20 degrees here today……We told her we were from Canada and it wouldn’t be necessary….she just smiled – probably didn’t have a clue what I said!   Anyway the restaurant is just 500m down the street and when we checked it out the cook showed us the fresh fish……guess it will be a fish platter again tonight; can’t get better than that!  (The fish platter is hidden behind the wine glass……it was very good. Also, had a Croatian veggie stew, Swiss chard with potatoes, Greek salad……and of course you might have noticed the Croatian house winep>

What are those creepy little dolls hanging on the wall?

    • We don’t know……but they were a little creepy! The house, we think, belonged to our young land lady’s mother in law because she stressed she didn’t decorate it but that her mother in law did. It was full of all kinds of nick knacks and odds and ends…..loads of things to talk about so it was fun.
