Great drive from Ottawa down to NY state with just a hint of snow. We kept telling ourselves that we’re going south and it won’t be a problem. And it wasn’t for us as we pulled off the road just as some wet snow was coming, had dinner very close to our hotel and crashed early. I was a little surprised to hear over coffee in the breakfast room the next morning how bad the road conditions had been the night before with some cars off the road and several deer collisions. “Headed south” I kept telling myself but was a little saddened to see several deer on the side of the road as we continued our travels into Pennsylvania. Stopped in the neat little town of Jim Thorpe, the famous athlete, for a hike (see picture)and a great coffee. It was here that we were reminded of monopoly and how happy we were when we got the railroad cards of Reading, B&O and Pennsylvania avenue…….we remembered them without google, did you?
