From Split we went by ferry to Stari Grad on the Island of Hvar, population almost 11,000. Hvar is considered to be the most luxurious Island and the sunniest place in Croatia and that proved to be true when we were there, 29 degrees(sorry Kathleen and others in Calgary!). Even though it’s considered to be expensive we got quite the deal on Air B n B which we’ve used for some of our stays and so far only rave reviews. We booked, while we were on the ferry, a two bedroom apt. in Hvar which had rave reviews for $48 including the Air BnB fee. When we arrived we were met by Alessandro, the owner, who showed us his wonderful condo that was complete with towels, linen, dishwasher and washer and everything else you would need and more. The view was exceptional from the deck which also had a teak table, four chairs and umbrella which protected us from the 29 degree heat…….we didn’t bother to put it up! Unfortunately we stayed in Hvar only one night and want to come back as it is truly beautiful. The following day we drove across the Island stopping in Jelsa and finally Sucarj where we caught the ferry back to the mainland.
